Petrina and James were married at Local at Riccarton House on Friday 4 January 2019. With a guest list of 103 people a cocktail style wedding reception was a perfect way for them to utilize the house and get maximum time with their family and friends.
The team here at Local at Riccarton House know how to put together a cocktail style reception seamlessly ensuring the day is special, relaxed and everyone leaves with special memories. A common perception of a cocktail style wedding is that people won’t be as well fed as with a seated dinner.
Our events team know this is one of the most important aspects of the day and they work closely with our couples to ensure the right amount of catering is arranged. On the day the front of house team know the best ways to work within the space to ensure everyone is reached and that food service is served at the appropriate times.
Hannah worked with Petrina and James to create the perfect menu for their day which included canapes, sliders, supper bowls, wedding cake as dessert and a late night snack.
Children and those with any dietary requirements were catered for outside of this menu to suit their needs.

We asked Petrina and James a few questions following their special day which they have been kind enough to share.
Why did you choose Local at Riccarton House as your venue?
We chose Riccarton House because of the beautiful garden area and native trees. The gardens provided many ceremony options dependent on number of people, weather conditions and themes. Having the food catered onsite was a massive bonus. The traditional styling was also what we loved.
What was your most memorable moment from the day here?
Ceremony under the gorgeous big pear tree and speeches in the rose garden!
What is a piece of advice you would give for anyone currently planning their special day?
Make it yours, slow down, enjoy the experience surrounded by your favourite people in this beautiful setting.
